National Awards for Cinematography

The National awards for Cinematography are held annually in May, on a rotational basis between Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. In 2006, they were held for the first time in the National capital, Canberra.

Entries for the National Awards are automatically entered from the Gold winners from the individual State Awards, held in November the preceding year. Direct entry is not available into the awards. Only current financial members of the society are eligible to enter into the state awards.

The Golden Tripod is the highest award in each category with runners up receiving distinctions. Only one Golden Tripod can be awarded in each category.

All the Golden Tripod Winners are then rejudged to determine the winner of the Miller Award for Australian Cinematographer of the Year.
