Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions of Entry into All ACS Awards

  1. There will be no direct entries allowed into the National Awards. The Gold Award winners from each of the current State Awards (National categories only) will be the only entries eligible; they will be automatically entered and have their entry fees paid for by the
    respective State branches.
  2. All entrants must be financial members of the Society and have been responsible for the visual content/lighting of the entry.
  3. All entries must have been completed and published within two years of the current awards and must not have been previously entered into any other State or National ACS Awards.
  4. Student Entrants may only submit up to two entries in the student category.
  5. Each entry may be submitted in only one chosen  category. It is the entrant’s right to choose whether, for instance, the ‘experimental & specialised’ component of their entry supersedes, say ‘commercials corporate’.
  6. Multi-camera entries will not generally be accepted, except in extreme extenuating circumstances. The work of other cinematographers and details of their involvement must be clearly provided so that the work of the entrant can be clearly identified; otherwise the
    entry will become invalid.
  7. Each entry must be on a separate official entry form, or photocopy thereof; and be accompanied by the payment for the total number of entries submitted. Payment may be by cash, money order, or cheque made out to the relevant ACS State Branch, in Australian Dollars only, or by credit cards approved by your State Branch.
  8. All entries containing Computer Generated Images (CGI) or CGI Manipulation must include a description of such CGI and a time code reference of where it occurs and/or a description of the entrant’s role in said CGI work Judges reserve the right to invalidate an entry considered CGI manipulated without explanation. Any entry produced without the aid of a camera will not be accepted.
  9. Entries will only be accepted on the formats stated on the front of the application form. Only one entry per tape or DVD is permitted. All entries must be cued correctly at the head of the work. Any entries not complying with the above may be disqualified. In the interests of anonymity to the judging panel, an entrant’s name should not appear in the opening
vision (except on finished production credits).
  10. The adjudication panel will consist only of accredited members of the Society. The panel may award as many, or as few, Gold, Silver or Bronze trophies as it deems appropriate or withhold making an award in any category where no entry reaches a sufficiently high
standard. The decisions of the panel will be final and binding and no correspondence or discussion whatsoever will be entered into.
  11. The adjudication panel may re-categorise any entry which it considers to have been entered incorrectly. Where possible, the judging panel chairman will contact the entrant, giving the entrant the opportunity to accept the change or withdraw the entry.
  12. No fee adjustments will be payable or refundable in the event of an invalid entry.
  13. All entries must be received by the due date and late entries will not be accepted for judging.
  14. The Society will take all due care, BUT WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE to an entry. Entries, other than State Gold
winners, will be held for collection for up to 6 months after the awards, after which, uncollected entries will be discarded. Arrangements can be made in certain circumstances for the ACS to post entries, if an entrant is at a distant location and if a correct address is provided. State Gold winners entries will be returned by the ACS, to the supplied address, after the National Awards. INSURANCE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTRANT.
  15. Copyright clearance is the entrant’s responsibility and the Society accepts no responsibility for any copyright infringement.
