RED Workshop Day

The ACS was given the opportunity to host a hands on RED workshop at Fox Studios in Sydney. Members from as far away as Perth & Victoria made the trip, which goes to show the interest the RED phenomenon has created

ACS becomes IMAGO Associate Member

2008 IF Award nominations announced

The 10th annual Inside Film Awards kicked off today, with the announcement of the 2008 IF Award nominees including ACS Members Denson Baker ACS, Robert Humphreys ACS and the recently accredited Jules O'Loughlin.

Mandy Walker is Hollywood DOP of the Year

Australian cinematographer Mandy Walker ACS will be one of the honourees at the 12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards. She will receive the "Hollywood Cinematographer of the Year Award" during a gala ceremony on October 27 in Los Angeles.

Ben Nott ACS wins coveted Hollywood Award

Los Angeles - 26 January 2008

Australian Cinematographer Ben Nott ACS has won top honours in the 22nd Annual American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Outstanding Achievement Awards; for excellence for Nott topped the movie/miniseries/pilot category for his work on The Company for producers Ridley & Tony Scott.

This is Ben's second nomination in these awards.

The ASC Awards are generally regarded as the next best thing to winning an Oscar in Cinematography. Presented the award by Annette Benning and Warren Beatty, Nott said ‘To be nominated by my peers was an absolute thrill given the incredible standard of work submitted’.

The Company traces the activities of the CIA over a 40 year period from the beginning of the cold war to the demise of the Soviet Union. Starring Michael Keaton and Chris O’Donnell this 6 hour mini series was photographed in Canada, Hungary and Puerto Rico.

With many Australian filmmakers forced to look for work in the US due to the downturn in Australian filmmaking, Ben has made his mark with Ridley and Tony Scott’s company, Scott Free productions. Ben’s latest film, the locally produced Daybreakers, starring Ethan Hawke, Sam Neil and Willem Dafoe and directed by Queenslanders, The Spierig Brothers.
