Monday 14th May
The Panavision HD Roadshow
FILM AUSTRALIA ROXY THEATRE, ETON ROAD, LINDFIELD FROM 7.00pm
Panavision will showcase the range of HD equipment to ACS members so they may better understand what is available for their next HD production. On display fresh from NAB will be the Genesis camera, Sony F900 & 900R cameras, Hylen System, Cmotion Lens Control System and HDV cameras with Panavision personnel on hand. A number of short 35mm film outs from the Genesis will be screened. You may bring a guest.
Food and refreshments will be provided so for catering please RSVP to Andrew Collier on 9436 1844.
Wednesday 16th May
Apple Technology Evening
Dear ACS members,
This is a quick reminder about our ACS event on Wednesday the 16th at the Academy Store Bondi Junction. The aim of this event is to give Cinematographers an overview of the technology available today for editing and taking ownership of your finished content. I know as camera people we often feel that we do not have the computer skills for non-linear editing. Academy store has a full time editor on staff and offers on-going training and support for people who want to learn these skills. Ben Morgan from Academy will explain the services they offer.
We will also be talking about the changing media landscape and how we can now provide content to all forms of media from traditional broadcasters to web broadcasters and even iPod. Sony and Panasonic will be there with some of their latest cameras and they will give us an overview of the new announcements from NAB as well.
Luke Caldwell (Ex Avid editor and now Apple broadcast solutions specialist) from Apple's Broadcast team will be there to demonstrate Final Cut Studio and answer any questions you might have about the Final Cut system.
This event will be the first of many and we intend to bring you on-going events to help you understand the technologies that are emerging and how you can use those technologies to leverage your skills in the new media.
We will be on site at Academy Store 20 Bronte Road Bondi Junction from 3 PM so feel free to wander in and ask some questions. Please remember if you would like to see the presentations at 5, 7 or 9PM bookings are essential as we only have 25 seats per session.
